Abstract

Furnace details.-An electric furnace is adapted to render the defective part of an article to be welded readily accessible by the provision of a movable cover and working doors. As shown in Fig. 1, the cover c has wheels d which run on fixed rails e on each side of the furnace and on movable extension rails f, g. These are pivoted to the fixed rails at h and may be independent, or inter-connected by links i and lever k. When raised they bear on the wheels d, raising the cover clear of the opening so that it can run back on the rails f, which are fixed by a strut l. In a modification, Fig. 3, the intermediate rails e are movable, and the extension rails fixed.
