Hand and breast drills. - The gear casings of hand drilling machines arc stiffened by a bulged diaphragm disposed in an axial plane. beteen the halves of the casing. The casing a Fig. 1, is provided with bearings b and c fitted with extensions l and m engaged by an axial semicircular bulge of the diaphragm f. The diaphragm is formed with semicircular peripheral bulges i, k on each face alternately, while the the edge n is gripped between the casing sections. Plates h, one at each side, are secured to the halves of the casing by screws o; grooves p being provided for the reception of the diaphragm f.
