Description

(54) ROLLER TABLE (71) We, SIETAM, a French Body corporate, residing at 4248 Avenue du President Kennedy, 91171 Viry-Clatillon, France, do hereby declare the invention for which we pray that a patent may be granted to us, and the method by which it is to be performed, to be particularly described in and by the following statement: The present invention relates to roller tables.
In a conventional roller table, a succession of parallel rollers are mounted on a frame. The fixation of the rollers requires bores to be made in the frame, in which are directly fixed bearing in which shafts carrying the rollers are mounted.
Such bore-holes or notches increase the production costs.
It is an object of the invention to reduce the production costs by simplifying the assembly and by producing standard modules which may be placed end to end to constitute a handling line.
According to the present invention there is provided a roller table comprising two longitudinal members of Z-shaped cross-section inter connected at the bottom by one or more crosspieces and at the top by shafts acting as crosspieces, rollers mounted on the shafts ro rotate thereon, and covers which cover the ends of the shafts and the adjacent ends of the rollers in order to serve as guides for loads carried on the roller.
The invention will be more readily understood on reading the following description of an example thereof with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a view in transverse section of a roller table according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a side view of the table according to the invention.
Referring now to the drawings, the roller table is constituted by two longitudinal members 1 and 2 of Z-shaped cross-section, which members 1 and 2 are joined at the bottom by a place 3 welded or bolted on the flange of the longitudinal member and, at the top, by shafts 4 forming cross-piece and supporting the rollers 5. These shafts are fixed on the upper flange of the longitudinal members by a boltnut assembly 6, but they may also be fixed by welding or the like.
The rollers are each provided at each end thereof with a sprocket 7 capable of being driven by via a chain 8 connected to a motor 9.
The end of the rollers 5 and the sprockets 7 are covered by a cover element 10 fixed to the longitudinal members by a bolt-nut assembly with the interposition of a bush 12.
This cover 10 protects the transmission chains and serves as guide for the loads transported.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment which has been described and shown in detail and various modifications may be made without departing from the scope thereof as defined by the appended claims. In particular, the longitudinal members and the bottom plate may be made in one piece, formed by folding; the bottom plate may also be eliminated and replaced by cross-pieces composed of bars or pipes.
WHAT WE CLAIM IS: 1. A roller table comprising two longitudinal members of Z-shaped cross-section interconnected at the bottom by one or more cross-pieces and at the top by shafts acting as cross-pieces, rollers mounted on the shafts to rotate thereon, and covers which cover the ends of the shafts and the adjacent ends of the rollers in order to serve as guides for loads carried on the rollers.
2. A roller table as claimed in claim 1, in which the or each lower cross-pieces comprises a plate.
3. A roller table as claimed in claim 2, in which the longitudinal members and the or each lower plate are formed in one piece by a folded plate.
4. A roller table as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3, in which the covers are attached to the longitudinal members and spaced therefrom bv bushes.
5. A roller table substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
