Creeping of rails, preventing; rail keys.-A rail anchor camprises a stamped or forged clip 2 of steel having at one end a lug 7<a> engaging one rail flange and at the other end a lug 6<a> engaging a solid taper key or wedge 3 of cast iron which is applied against the other rail flange. The underside of the key slopes upwardly at 3<x> away from the clip, while undue strain on the clip is avoided by providing the key with a clearance 9. The key may have an abutment 5 adapted to coact with the sleeper, or the key at its wider end may bear against the corresponding end of the key securing the rail to the sleeper. The lug 7<a> may be bent towards the sleeper.
