Abstract
156,296. Jackson, W. J. Mellersh-, (Automatic Machinery Co.). Sept. 1, 1919. Discharging and feeding devices for endlesschain conveyers.-Relates to conveying apparatus for conveying bottles, jars, cans, &c. from one or more sources of supply and delivering them to a main conveyer which discharges at a single point, and which is particularly applicable for conveying freshly-formed glass articles to an annealing leer. The articles are conveyed to the leer by a series of conveyers 40, Fig. 5, and a conveyer 15, and are transferred from the conveyers 40 to the conveyer 15 by rotary discs 44. The articles are deflected from a conveyer 40 on to a disc 44 by bars 42, 43 each pivoted at one end and clamped adjustably at the other so that their distance apart can be adjusted. During transfer, the articles come successively into contact with an arm of the star-wheel 45, Fig. 2, and are retained until the cam 52 mounted on the disc 44 rocks the lever 54 thereby disengaging the pin 46 from the ratchet wheel 47 and permitting the partial rotation of the star wheel. The shaft carrying the disc 44 is geared to a sprocket, which is engaged with the driving-chain of the conveyer 15. By adjusting the cams 52, it can be arranged that the articles from the conveyers 40 are deposited on the conveyer 15 without coming into contact with each other.
