Abstract
155,279. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. Aug. 18, 1916, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Mountings. - Relates to hydraulic gun-laying apparatus, and consists in actuating the controlling s l i d e - valves C, D by a member P which, after being displaced to start the laying movement, is automatically returned to inoperative position whilst the laying movement is being carried out. When the invention is applied to elevating-gear, the gun cradle A<1> trunnioned at a<2> in a carriage B carries a distantly-controlled range receiver T, and an electric motor R started by hand but automatically stopped by the receiver T when the desired movement has been made. To lower the breech end of the gun, the motor R, driving through a toothed sector Q loosely mounted on the gun trunnion a<2>, raises the member P and permits a spring J to open the valve C and thereby admit pressure to the hydraulic apparatus (not shown) which moves the gun. The movement of the gun tends to cause the return of the member P which return however is not effected until the motor R stops. The return of the gun to the horizontal or loading position is effected by starting the motor R in the opposite direction the member P being then lowered so as to permit a spring K to open the valve D. The motor R is stopped just before the loading position is reached, the subsequent movement of the gun acting to restore the sector Q and member P to the position shown.
