Abstract

The electric drive device with a drive motor has a braking surface which rotates with the rotor (6) and a non-rotatably arranged braking counter-surface (45). The two surfaces are displaceable relative to one another. They are pressed against one another by a spring (38) when the drive motor is switched off. When the motor is running, one of the two surfaces is held at a distance from the other surface by magnetic force against the force of the spring (38). The braking moment of the brake is increased by temperature-dependent changes of the distance between the two surfaces of the brake being at least partially compensated e.g. by using materials in the drive device which have only small longitudinal thermal expansion coefficients in the critical temperature range or by an axial displaceability of the drive device. As a result, it is possible to use a relatively great energy to lift the brake and to manage with a relatively small travel of the brake. <IMAGE>
