Abstract

The method for producing corrugated sheets consists in subjecting the flat sheet of paper used as starting material to a heavy corrugation which leads to the formation of peaks and troughs having a total height and corresponding depth (H) which is greater than at least one fifth of the pitch of the corrugation (Pt). In order to obtain a sheet of considerable total thickness (H), the corrugation is carried out between corrugating rollers (C1, C2) having profiles which are partially conjugate in their cross sections and cavities which are elongated along their perimeter. During corrugation, the peaks of one roller penetrate into the troughs of another roller. The cushioning pad obtained is satisfactorily elastic to compressive forces and resistant to bending forces. It is used to pack and fill boxes containing relatively fragile products such as chocolates and other confectionery. <IMAGE>
