Abstract

To correct pincushion distortions of the picture in the vertical direction on the screen of a colour television picture tube, the vertical output amplifier is supplied with a correction signal (3) in addition to the frame signal (2). This correction signal consists of line-frequency squarewave pulses which are sawtooth-modulated at frame rate in amplitude and phase. The output of the vertical output amplifier (1) is connected to a series resonant circuit (4, 5), the capacitor (5) being connected to earth and the vertical deflection coil (6) being connected to this capacitor (5). The output impedance of the vertical output amplifier (1) is reduced for line frequency by voltage feedback (10, 11). These measures simplify the construction of the correction circuit. Neither a transductor nor a transformer or an additional amplifier are needed for injecting the correction signal. <IMAGE>
