Abstract
The method is based on the insight that each diamond has unique internal irregularities and faults which affect the X-ray diffraction spectrum of the diamond in a characteristic manner. In order to identify a diamond, a topographic X-ray photograph is made thereof and compared with topographic X-ray photographs of known diamonds. Identification is preferably carried out by using photographs which reproduce the X-ray diffraction spectrum at the Bragg angle.
