Abstract

The transparent image recording material for thermographic image generation, for example thermographic copying, has, on a transparent base, a coating which consists of a reducible metal soap, i.e. a metal salt of a soap-forming carboxylic acid, and an organic reducing agent such as a sterically hindered phenol, and these substances are embedded in a film-forming binder. To prevent a discolouration of the background during prolonged irradiation, the said coating also contains 0.0007 to 0.005 parts by weight of a polycyclic aromatic dye having a development characteristic of >/= 150 seconds per part by weight of metal soap.
