Abstract

The book blocks (4) are moved, standing upright, along a guide path (1) to a pressing station at which the glued covers (6, 10) are bonded on. At the feed point (3), the book blocks are placed on the guide path in such a way that, at the pressing station (8, 12), they rest with their edge (23) opposite the back (14) against the base (20) of the guide path. The support points (20) for the lower edge (22) of the covers (6, 10) and the lower edge (23) of the book block (4) are at the same height at the pressing station. The glued cover can thus end with spacing (a) from the back (14). This prevents damage of the back binding when the book-like product is opened out. This is particularly advantageous in book-like products which are often used, such as ledgers, school notebooks and the like. <IMAGE>
