Abstract

1537538 Pregnancy test method AMERICAN HOME PRODUCTS CORP 6 Dec 1977 [16 Dec 1976] 52640/76 Heading G1B In pregnancy testing, human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) or its beta sub-unit in body fluid samples is determined by first concentrating the sample by ultra-filtration then carrying out the assay on the retentate. Specification 1537537 relates to suitable ultrafiltration devices. The filter may be prewashed with a protein or a protein may be added to a urine sample before it is tested. It is stated that the invention may be applied in the detection of physiological conditions other than pregnancy by determination of luteinizing hormone, follicle stimulating hormone, human menopausal gonadotropin or antibodies to gonadotropins.
