Abstract

1536123 Measuring co-ordinates electrically E HOWBROOK 22 Feb 1977 [24 Nov 1975] 48173/75 Heading G1N Apparatus for determining the co-ordinates of points on a writing surface comprises an A.C.- energized circular coil 10, Fig. 4, carried by an eye-piece 20 or a pen and two groups 22, 23 of elongate pick-up coils 11, located under the writing surface 21, whose induced voltages form phase-characterized signals representing the x, y co-ordinates of the eye-piece 20 or pen. A writing pen 30 (Fig. 6) may carry two coils 10A, 10B at known distances R A , R B along the pen, energized alternatively, and the pick-up signals combined to compensate for tilt of the pen.
