Abstract
1535926 Treating seeds W J SMITH 30 March 1976 [1 April 1975] 13137/75 Headings A2D and A2Q A method of improving the stability of seeds comprises the step of drying the seeds at a first temperature of 50 to 60‹C and under a vacuum of at least 100 microns Hg for a time sufficient to render the seeds stable to exposure to a second temperature 10‹C higher than the first temperature without substantially loss of viability. The drying step may be repeated at the second temperature to render the seeds stable to exposure to a third temperature 10‹C higher than the second temperature. The method is applicable to the treatment of radish, cucumber, lettuce, clover or cabbage seeds.
