1535881 Rotary positive-displacement fluidmachines E M RYLEWSKI 6 Feb 1976 [7 Feb 1975 22 Jan 1976] 04691/76 Heading F1F In a worm and worm-wheel machine similar to that disclosed in Specification 1392105 with reference to Figs. 1-6 of the drawings thereof the profiles of the teeth, or "vanes", 20 of the wheels 21 and of the spiral ribs 31, 32 are such that the plate bearing the ribs can be removed from the die in which it has been cast in a direction parallel with the axis 23. The vanes are thus broader at the roots than at the tips and may (a) be trapezoidal (as shown), (b) have convexly curved flanks, Figs. 7, 8, 12 and 13 (not shown), or (c) have a semicircular profile, Fig. 14 (not shown). The ribs may be coated with a plastics material, Fig. 5 (not shown), or be cast separately and then attached to the plate, Fig. 6 (not shown).
