1535495 Flame retardant; brominated phthalimide CITIES SERVICE CO 8 Aug 1977 [21 Dec 1976] 33160/77 Heading C3K A flame retardant for rubber modified polystyrenes comprises an N,N<SP>1</SP>-alkylene-bis-tetrabromophthalimide in which the alkylene group contains 2-15 carbon atoms. In the examples, the fire retardants are N,N<SP>1</SP>-ethylene-bis-tetrabromophthalimide and N,N<SP>1</SP>-hexamethylenebis-tetrabromophthalimide. Synergists such as Sb 2 O 3 can be present.
