1535395 Hospital trolleys B WEIL 21 May 1976 21194/76 Heading B7B In a cart adapted for loading on to a vehicle and of adjustable height, castors 26, 27 are carried by a rectangular frame 25 having telescoping members 29, 30 so that, as pairs of legs 23, 24 pivoted to the frame 25 are moved apart to lower a bed 20, the swivel axes 26A, 27A of the castors are kept vertical. Rear legs 23 are pivoted to the bed 20 and to braces 72, which are themselves pivoted to a slide 74 slidable on a beam 65 when a latch arrangement is unlocked by a handle at the rear of the cart. Hinges 82 connect the front legs 24 to a member 83 pivoted to a slide 86, which is also slidable on the beam 65 when another latch arrangement is unlocked by a handle at the front of the cart. When auxiliary wheels 21 at the front end of the cart are supported, e.g. when loading on to a vehicle, operation of the rear handle also releases a bar 92 locking one hinge 82 against movement. Thus, the legs are folded to lower the cart (Fig. 11D) when both front and rear handles are operated, but to load the cart on to a vehicle (Fig. 10C) only the rear handle is operated. An adjustable backrest 57 is provided and the front end 36 of the bed is hinged downwardly (broken lines in Fig. 1) to shorten the cart.
