Abstract

1535360 Power steering CAM GEARS Ltd 5 Sept 1977 [22 Sept 1976] 39281/76 Addition to 1465901 Heading B7H Relatively rotatable input and output shafts 4, 11, each connected to a respective member of a torsionally actuated valve 7, are interconnected by a coupling 9 comprising a rigid end part 13 and an elastic part 14 acting as a torsion bar, and balls 21 located in bores 20 in the input shaft 4 are urged into recesses 19 in the rigid part 13 of the coupling in response to fluid pressure as the vehicle speed increases. By this clutch arrangement, the input and output shafts are restrained against relative rotation above a predetermined vehicle speed so that there is no power-assistance.
