Abstract
1533716 Measuring presence or absence of developing agent OCE-VAN DER GRINTEN NV 29 July 1976 [30 July 1975] 31714/76 Heading G1W The presence or absence of magnetic developing agent 2 in a supply container 1 of a developing agent supply apparatus is detected by arranging a magnet 3 and magnetic field sensing element 5 (reed switch or Hall plate) in close proximity to the bottom of the container (as shown) or to a lower part of a vertical or inclined container side wall. When developing agent 2 is present in the container, as shown, the magnetic field from magnet 3 passes through the developing agent and is of sufficient magnitude to actuate reed switch 5 whereas when the amount of agent 2 is small the magnetic field passing through switch 5 is of such a low value that the latter is de-actuated. The reed switch is connected in a lamp circuit whereby the lamp is switched on when the switch is de-actuated.
