Abstract
1533064 Colour television tubes PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 27 Aug 1976 [1 Sept 1975] 35727/76 Heading H1D When manufacturing the screen of a slotted shadow-mask colour television tube, by a method in which a photosensitive layer on the screen is exposed to light from at least two different positions, such that beams passing through two adjacent slots overlap on the layer, while the two beams passing through a given slot are spaced apart on the layer to leave an unexposed region on which the phosphor is deposited, colour error in the two extreme edge phosphor triplets is avoided by initially exposing the whole screen except for the regions extending outwards from the penultimate lines of triplets at each edge of the screen, and providing a non- luminescent layer on those regions, such that the electron beams which pass through the two extreme edge slots of the shadow-mask impinge thereon. As shown, the unexposed region corresponding to one edge slot-the left-hand edge slot 14 as shown in Fig. 4-is first formed, with a source of light moved during exposure as shown by the arrows, while the right-hand edge of the screen is covered ; the procedure is then repeated with the rales of the edges reversed. The non-luminescent-layer may be light absorbing or conductive.
