Abstract

1530311 Trans-shipping at sea; jib cranes REDPATH DORMAN LONG (NORTH SEA) Ltd 5 March 1976 [7 March 1975] 9611/75 Headings B8E and B8H Apparatus for lifting a module load 31 from a barge on to a fixed platform 10 comprises a longitudinally extensible member 14 pivoted at sea level at 15 to a leg 11 of the platform and having lifting wires 32 to engage the top of the load. The member 14 is luffed by wires 25 from winches 26. The member 14 has telescopic tube 14a, 14b and is provided with a rubber buffer 22 or other spring means between abutments 19, 21 in the tubes so as to cushion movement of the load when in the barge as it is effected by sea movements. In another embodiment two telescopic members are provided which are connected by a boom which carries the lifting blocks. The two tubes 14a, 14b are pivotal about their longitudinal axes so that from the Fig. 3 position the module can be turned on to the platform as indicated in Fig. 1.
