Abstract
1529553 Ground proximity warning systems TELECOMMUNICATIONS RADIOELECTRIQUES ET TELEPHONIQUES 28 June 1977 [1 July 1976] 26985/77 Heading B7W A ground proximity warning system uses analog inputs of radio altitude HR, barometric rate of sink HB, and glide slope derivation GS, together with digital inputs of other parameters to calculate the proximity of the aircraft to dangerous terrain conditions. The system periodically acquires test values of the analog inputs, converts them into digital form, and compares them with stored minimum and maximum reference values. A time delay determines whether any test values outside the reference values are of a transient or permanent nature, and means is provided to activate a warning indicator in the cockpit when they are found to be of a permanent nature.
