Abstract
1529247 Hydrostatic transmission control MANITOWOC CO Inc 22 April 1976 [24 April 1975] 54278/77 Divided out of 1529246 Heading F2W [Also in Division B7] Driving mechanism for a demountable crane transport assembly having a central body 15 and detachable traction assemblies 17 with endless tracks 21 comprises for each track a drive sprocket 19 coupled by reduction gearing to two hydraulic motors 62, 63 mounted on the frame 18 of the traction assembly and connected in parallel through detachable fluid lines to one of two reversible pumps 53 mounted on the body 15 and driven through transmission gearing 54 by an engine 52. The displacement of each pump 53 is separately controlled by a pneumatic actuator 64 connected to a valve 66 operated by one of levers 65 so that the tracks can be independently driven in forward and reverse as required. Each hydraulic motor 62 has a fixed displacement and each hydraulic motor 63 is of the variable-displacement swashplate type and has regulating means 81 which includes an hydraulic feedback section 82 connected to the motor supply line by a shuttle valve 84, and a pneumatic compensating actuator 85 pressurized through a valve 88 when the pump 53 is at maximum displacement. The pneumatic pressure in the compensating actuator 85 acts in opposition to the hydraulic supply pressure in the feedback section 82 to reduce or reverse the throughput of the motor 63 so that the sprocket is driven at an increased speed depending on the torque requirement indicated by the supply pressure.
