Abstract

1528634 Coating BICC Ltd 11 March 1977 [12 Dec 1975] 51043/75 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions B5 and D1] A method of manufacturing a plastics coated paper comprises extruding a coating of thermoplastics onto the surface of the paper sheet as it advances in the direction of its length, water or other liquid being applied thereto in amount sufficient to compensate for any loss of moisture from the paper that may have occurred during the manufacture of the coated sheet. Preferably the paper is dampened immediately downstream of the roll by which the plastics coating material is stripped from the cooling roll, or if post-treatment of the plastics coating is effected immediately downstream of the post-treatment apparatus.
