Abstract

1528457 Selective signalling GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd 13 Sept 1976 [14 Aug 1975] 33882/75 Heading G4H A multi-bit message impressed on an A.C. power supply waveform consists of a start bit, address bits, instruction bits and a further bit, impressed on respective odd-numbered cycles except for the further bit which is impressed on an even-numbered cycle. The transmitter has manual input of address and instruction via code conversion into a parallel-to-serial shift register. The receiver responds to the start bit to start comparing the address bits with the receiver's address, the receiver being reset on any inequality. If the addresses agree, the number of 1-bits among the instruction bits is checked. If other than one, the receiver is reset. If one, the instruction bits are decoded to control the on/off status of two switches. The receiver is also reset, preventing the control being effective, if the further bit is absent.
