Abstract

1528390 Valves PEGLER-HATTERSLEY Ltd 26 Oct 1976 [19 Dec 1975] 52203/75 Heading F2V A rotary spherical floating ball valve, Fig. 1 (not shown), is provided with resilient annular sealing inserts 23 provided with low pressure 25 and high pressure 26 seating surfaces of concave-convex form and with a peripheral recess 24 of semicircular crosssection to equalize stress distribution on the seal. A groove 27 communicates the recess 24 with the line pressure and the seal part 22b can "valve open" to equalize pressures on the inlet and ball chamber sides to prevent high actuating torques. The seals are preferably of P.T.F.E.
