1527262 Sunscreening compositions PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 27 Jan 1976 [27 Jan 1975] 28 Oct 1975] 03077/76 Heading A5B Compositions for protecting skin from disorders induced by UV radiation, comprise from 0.001 to 25% by weight of a conjugated diene selected from compounds of the formulae wherein each R is -(CH 2 ) n R 2 , wherein R 2 is hydrogen, hydroxyl, amine, amide, carboxyl, carboxamide, methoxyl, etherically linked sugar, sulfoxide, sulfane, sulfinyl, sulfonyl, or -C(O)OR 3 wherein R 3 is hydrogen, C 1-10 alkyl, methoxyl, hydroxyl, amine, amide, carboxyl or phenyl and wherein n is an integer from 1 to 10, and wherein the ends of the diene chain may combine to form a cyclic diene of the formula wherein m is an integer from I to 10, and wherein each R 1 is hydrogen, C 1-10 alkyl, or -(CH 2 ) n R 2 wherein R 2 is as defined above and n is as defined above, from 1 to 10% by weight, of a sunscreening or ultraviolet light absorbing agent (many being specified), and the balance a skin compatible surfactantcontaining vehicle.
