Abstract

1527158 Measuring pipe-lines DORNIER SYSTEM GmbH 22 July 1976 [12 Sept 1975] 30623/76 Heading G1M [Also in Division F2] Apparatus for measuring the deflection curve bending line and laying point 15 of pipes during underwater pipe laying comprises a carriage 14 having calibration equipment thereon which propels itself along the inside of the pipe, a vessel 1 having evaluation, transmission, and analysis components for measurements made by and transmitted from carriage 14 and a unit 12 insertable into the pipe-line with docking means for retrieving the carriage. The carriage is freely rotatable about its longitudinal axis and may carry sensors such as gyroscopes, acceleration meters, angle encoders, length sensors etc. which are calibrated by calibration device 9 on board the vessel. The apparatus measures the deflection curve bending line as it moves towards the sea bed or lay point. During laying the carriage moves along with the lay point.
