Abstract
1526770 Polyoxyalkylated pyroglutamic esters INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE 19 Dec 1975 [27 Dec 1974] 52145/75 Heading C2C [Also in Division C1] The invention comprises biodegradable surfactant compounds made by esterifying glutamic or pyroglutamic acid with a mono- or polyhydric alcohol, the latter being optionally partially esterified with a fatty acid, if desired, esterifying any remaining free hydroxyl groups with a fatty acid or a reactive derivative thereof and oxyalkylating the product with an alkylene oxide. The compounds may be used to disperse oil slicks on seawater and to clean sand contaminated with crude oil.
