Abstract

1525553 Sulphur dioxide removal AMERICAN ELECTRONIC LABORATORIES Inc 28 March 1977 [19 April 1976] 13014/77 Heading C1A Sulphur dioxide is removed from waste gas streams by contacting with an aqueous composition containing a ferric salt in such an amount so as to provide at least 0À6% by weight of ferric ions, and an aluminium salt in such an amount so as to provide at least 0À05% by weight of aluminium ions, the sulphur dioxide is oxidized to sulphuric acid and the ferric ions reduced to ferrous ions; this solution is then regenerated by contact with oxygen.
