Abstract

1525346 Automatic control KLARK-TEKNIK RESEARCH Ltd 16 June 1977 [17 June 1976] 25014/76 Heading G3N A tape recording apparatus is provided with a tape tension control system wherein the current to a spool winding motor is determined in correspondence with the effective diameter of the spool. The diameter of the spool is measured by dividing a pulse train, representative of spool rotational speed, by a pulse train, representative of linear tape velocity. Each spool is provided with a control system and facilities are provided for setting into multipliers reference values corresponding to desired tape tensions each side of a recording or playback head.
