Abstract

1523764 Radiography; correcting raster distortion in cathode-ray tubes PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 31 July 1975 [3 Aug 1974] 32057/75 Headings H4F and H4T A sectional plane of a body O is imaged by rotating an X-ray source around a circle F 1 to F N while an electronic image intensifier 1 is correspondingly rotated about a circle M, to M N so that the central radiation beam always passes through a point Q in the plane of interest, the images viewed at each position of the source and intensifier being superimposed in a storage tube 5 whose scanning is synchronized with that of a camera tube 2 viewing the output of the image intensifier 1 by means of a common deflection circuit 6, but the scanning voltages of the storage tube have correction voltages #U x and #U y added thereto in amplifiers 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> so as to compensate for the fact that the input screen of the image intensifier 1 is curved, e.g. spherical, rather than flat. The correction voltages are generated in a circuit 7 under the control of a computer 8 and are typically a quadratic function of the cartesian coordinates of each image point. The specification describes a circuit for generating such a quadratic function using conventional analogue techniques and also a circuit using resolvers for coordinate rotation to eliminate the effect of the rotation of the image intensifier to give a stationary superimposed image on the storage tube target.
