1523552 Preventing erosion; crash harriers B WHITEHEAD 25 Feb 1977 [20 April 1976] 16022/76 Headings E1G and E1H Erosion of the bank of a body of water is prevented by a mat constructed from tyres cut in half circumferentially and joined together by U-bolts and wires, Fig. 1. A plastics membrane is provided beneath the mat and the mat and membrane are held in position by posts driven into the ground. Tyres may also be used to form a crash barrier, Fig. 3.
