Abstract

1523196 Oscillator circuits; amplitude modulators EMI Ltd 18 March 1977 [24 April 1976] 16738/76 Headings H3T and H3R An oscillator employing a single SAW delay line to provide two signals, widely spaced in frequency, one as an RF carrier signal and the other lower frequency signal for modulating the carrier with digital information or for switching between analogue channels in telemetry, domestic radio control systems, alarm systems &c., comprises a first external circuit 2 across the line 1 to maintain the oscillations and a further external circuit 4-6 driven by the oscillations for impressing on a component of the circuit 2 a modulation at a lower frequency. The elements 4, 5 derive a subharmonic component of the main oscillations which is then maintained by a sub-loop and usefully extracted at 7. The amplitude modulation produced at 2 is eliminated by a limiter buffer amplifier 9 to derive a carrier frequency signal.
