Abstract

1522549 Deaf aids ARDENTE Ltd 9 June 1977 [24 June 1976] 26280/76 Heading H4J A behind-the-ear hearing aid 1 comprises a housing 2 having an amplifier (not shown), output transducer (not shown), and internal microphone 3. An external microphone 5 mounted in a microphone housing 6 has a connecting head 7 terminating in a jack plug 8. The jack plug 8, when inserted in the socket 4 of the hearing aid, puts the external microphone 5 in parallel with the internal microphone 3, whereby the user can listen to a remote source (e.g. television) while maintaining hearing assistance in respect of other persons' conversation. The microphone housing 6 carries an adhering surface 9, for example a rubber suction pad, but preferably a body of reusably adherent polymeric material (e.g. polysiloxane) which automatically adopts the conformation of the surface onto which it is pressed.
