1522110 Grippers UKRAIN N I INST METAL and NAUCH - PROIZVODSTVEN OBIEDINENIE "TULACHERMET" 17 Dec 1976 52745/76 Heading B8H [Also in Division B3] A continuous casting 2 is withdrawn from a mould 3, e.g. by a hydraulic cylinder 15, by means of a device with a housing 1 containing shoes 5 each connected to the housing by a rod 11 which can move with respect to the housing 1 and is loaded by a spring 12 or fluid cylinder; movement in the withdrawal direction causes wedge blocks 10 secured to the housing to wedge rollers and press them against the shoes 5 to grip the casting 2 while movement in the reverse direction unwedges the rollers. By means of an adjustable collar 13, the spring force can be adjusted.
