Abstract

1522017 Cutting blades LEDERMANN & CO 15 Oct 1975 [17 Oct 1974] 42123/75 Heading B5L A cutting tool 1 for mounting in a tool holder used in machining wood or plastics comprises a plate-shaped body portion having at least one cutting edge 3 and a groove 11 formed in one face 4 adapted to contact the tool holder, the groove having a depth which is smaller than half the thickness of the body portion. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the plate is formed with apertures 13, 14 and end recesses g for weight-saving purposes. The groove 11 is provided for collecting lapping paste and metal particle during manufacture of the tool. In modifications, a second groove (15), Fig. 8 (not shown) may be formed on the opposite face 6 of the tool, the bottom of the groove or grooves may be curved, the end recesses may be V or U-shaped and the grooves need not extend to the ends of the tool.
