Abstract
1521823 Separating sheets from piles; collating sheets GLOBE-UNION Inc 26 March 1976 12268/76 Heading B8R An apparatus for forming battery elements of positive and negative plates and separators includes a plurality of piles of positive plates P, negative plates N1, N2 and separators S1, S2, held by brackets 55d, 56d and supported on rotatable discs, e.g. 30d. Each disc has a plate- or separator-shaped aperture 31d and is rotated by a fluid pressure motor 43d from a first position, in which a plate or separator lowermost in the pile falls into the disc aperture, to a second position in which the plate or separator falls from the disc aperture, through an aperture 33d in a base plate 22 to moving conveyer belts 75. Suction ports 65d in the base plate urge the plate or separator downwards into the disc aperture. Tines 86 break the fall of the plates, dogs 84, upstanding from the belts 75, removing the plates from the tines. Battery elements are built up against the dogs as the dogs pass beneath successive piles. The elements are then urged up a ramp 90 and deposited on a collecting wheel, Fig. 1 (not shown), to be subsequently further assembled at station (155). Leaf springs 95 aid stack assembly. A photo-cell jam detector 102 stops the belts.
