Abstract

1521692 Wired broadcasting systems COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS Ltd 22 July 1975 [6 Aug 1974] 34514/74 Heading H4R In a wired broadcasting system of the type in which the subscribers are each connected to a programme exchange by means of a cable comprising a first pair of twisted together insulated conductors and a second pair of conductors, two programmes can be simultaneously supplied to the subscriber, each programme being supplied over a respective pair of the conductors, there being a pair of programme selectors at the exchange associated with the conductors for selecting the programmes. The arrangement is used to supply a pair of television programmes to respective receivers at the subscribers premises, each programme of the pair being independently selectable using a dial which is coupled to a respective one of the second pair of conductors. One programme is transmitted on the first pair of twisted together conductors as the lower side band of a 8À9 M Hz carrier and the other programme is transmitted on the second pair as the upper side band of a 5À9 M Hz carrier, the bands overlapping to provide Tete-Beche operation.
