Abstract
1520940 Urethane-stabilised pigment dispersions CIBA-GEIGY AG 16 June 1977 [8 July 1976] 28415/76 Heading B1V [Also in Division C2] Pigment dispersions comprises urethane polymers, e.g. those of the formula I: wherein D is the residue of a dihydroxy compound and n is from 1 to 3, which have been obtained by polymerising until no free isocyanate can be detected, a reaction mixture containing a di-isocyanate, a C 2-4 aliphatic diol and a C 10-22 monohydroxy compound, mole ratios of 2:1:2 to 4:3:2 in a hydrocarbon solvent containing from 7.5 to 50%, by weight of a primer, the primer being a pre-formed urethane condensation product, together with pigments. Examples illustrate dispersions based on #-copper phthalocyanine blue pigments. The dispersions may be added to long oil alkyd/white spirit compositions to form paints or to zinc-calcium resinate (with or without phenolic modified resinate)/aliphatic, aromatic or mixed hydrocarbon solvent compositions to form publication rotogravure inks.
