1520119 Rotary positive-displacement fluidmachines R F A AUTAGE AND G J E DUPONT 26 Sept 1975 [27 Sept 1974] 39514/75 Heading F1F An actuator has compartments 13 .. 16 ribs 2 on the housing 1 and vanes 4 on the output shaft 3 occupied by flexible-walled chambers 17, which may be made of rubber, the shaft being turned by inflating and deflating appropriate chambers. To prevent the deflated chambers being crushed a stop (9), Fig. 2 (not shown), may be attached to the shaft so as to engage with an abutment (10) on the housing at the limit of each stroke. The working fluid may be a compressible one such as air, nitrogen or natural gas.
