Abstract
151,971. Deutsche Maschinenfabrik Akt.-Ges. June 12, 1917, [Convention date]. Power hammers ; breaking.-In crank-operated hammers for breaking pig &c., the stroke of the tup is controlled by a Stephenson link gear actuating the tup through a linkage comprising stationary springs to give a resilient blow. In Fig. 1 the shaft e, spur driven from the motor b, carries eccentrics f, g disposed at 180 degrees and operating on the slotted link h, the position of which is controlled by a screw-and-nut gear i, m. The link block o is carried by a lever q oscillating about a fixed pivot p, and carrying at its free end the axis for the bell-crank levers r, s which drive the tup u by the links t. During the reciprocation of the tup springs F mounted on the framing are compressed by external rods y<1> mounted on axes w, the lower axis being pivotally connected to the pin x and also to the free ends of the bell-crank levers s, the compression of the springs and the deflexion of the lower axis permitting the tup to move beyond the positive stroke limits I, II.
