Abstract

1518520 Levitated electrical machines WAI SUN LEUNG and TIN CHAK MA 29 Sept 1976 [31 Dec 1975] 53288/75 Heading H2A In a vertically mounted electrical rotating machine, the rotor is located below the stator and rotates at such relatively low speeds that a net levitational force is exerted thereon by the stator, the levitational force reducing or eliminating the weight of the rotor on a thrust bearing. A disc type planar air gap water driven alternator is described, the stator (Fig. 1, not shown) being formed from a wound strip of magnetic material, and the rotor (Fig. 2, not shown) being formed from a solid piece of magnetic material.
