Abstract

1518371 Laminates IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 17 Jan 1977 [20 Jan 1976] 02169/76 Heading B5N A process for the production of a laminate consisting of a release paper laminated to a pressure sensitive adhesive film supported on a sheet material comprises applying to a paper an organopolysiloxane composition containing at least two organopolysiloxanes, one of which contains silicon-bonded hydrogen and one other of which contains silicon-bonded hydroxyl, vinyl or allyl groups, and an organoplatinum complex catalyst, curing said composition to an adhesive film and applying thereto, either separately or together, a pressure sensitive adhesive film and a supporting sheet therefor, the said adhesive having incorporated therein a small proportion of an organic compound containing one or more elements selected from trico-valent nitrogen, phosphorus, arsenic and antimony, and di-co-valent sulphur, selenium and tellurium. Examples of suitable organic compounds are ethanolamine, N-methyl-ethanolamine, N,N-dimethylethanolamine, triethanolamine, diethylamine, triethylamine, tetramethylenediamine, cyclohexylamine and dimethylformamide. The pressure-sensitive adhesive may contain natural rubber, copolymers of butadiene with styrene or acrylonitrile, polychloroprene, polyisobutylene, polyisoprene, polyacrylates or polyvinyl ethers, plus petroleum oil or resin esters as plasticizer and terpene resins, petroleum resins or resin esters as tackifiers, all dissolved in a solvent; or it may be a hot-melt adhesive comprising ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or styrene-isoprene block copolymer. The sheet material may be paper.
