Abstract

1518324 Blends comprising vinyl chloridevinyl alkanoate-alkene terpolymer UNION CARBIDE CORP 30 June 1975 27557/75 Headings C3M and C3R Compositions for making floor tiles comprise (a) a vinyl chloride-vinyl alkanoate-C2-C4 alkene terpolymer having an inherent viscosity of 0À5 to 0À9, (b) a thermoplastic polymer selected from a terpolymer as defined in (a) but having an inherent viscosity less than 0À5, chlorinated polyethylene and a copolymer of vinyl chloride with vinylidene chloride, a vinyl alkanoate or propylene in an amount of 35 to 75% by weight of (a) plus (b), and (c) 200 to 750 pbw of filler per 100 pbw of (a) plus (b) and optionally a polylactone. Compositions exemplified contain a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetateethylene terpolymer; one or more of a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate (or vinylidine chloride or propylene) copolymer, chlorinated polyethylene and a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-ethylene terpolymer of different viscosity, and other components selected from polyepsilon-caprolactone, polyvinyl chloride, poly alpha methylstyrene plasticizers, limestone, asbestos, TiO2 and stabilizers.
