Abstract

1516584 Preparing copper phthalocyanines IHARA CHEMICAL INDUSTRY CO Ltd 21 Oct 1976 [27 Dec 1975] 43751/76 Heading C4P [Also in Division C2] Copper phthalocyanines are prepared by reacting a phthalic anhydride or a phthalimide with copper or a copper compound and urea in presence of a catalyst and a solvent having the general formula wherin R 1 and R 2 are C 1 -C 3 alkyl, and R 3 and R 4 are H or C 1 -C 3 alkyl.The reaction takes place at 130-280‹C under at least atmospheric pressure and the solvents specified include methyle-o-ethylchlorobenzene, ethyl-m-ethylchlorobenzene, monoisopropyl-o-chlorotoluene, monoisopropyl-mchlorotoluene, mono-isopropyl-p-chlorotoluene, isopropyl-p-isopropyl chlorobenzene, trimethyl monochlorobenzene, 2,4,6-trimethylmonochlorobenzene, 2,3,5,6-tetramethyl monochlorobenzene and 2,3,4,6-tetramethyl monochlorobenzene.
