Abstract
1516413 Multi-layered optical recording and playback E S JACOBS 4 Aug 1975 [21 Oct 1974] 32589/75 Heading G5R Information is recorded as discrete optical data spots of variable size in a plurality of layers 50 of a record 10. The recording may be reflective as shown, transmissive or photoluminescent, and playback is effected by a single beam 18. One layer 50 is selected for playback by means of a focussing lens 20 and a pin-hole mask 22 as shown or by colour filters (60, 62), Fig. 3 (not shown). The beam 18 scans successive arcuate tracks (35), Fig. 2 (not shown), via a five-sided distributor mirror 26 and five corresponding objective mirrors 34 and lenses 16, all rotating together on a shaft 30.
