Abstract

1515977 Valves G G ARIZZOLI 21 Oct 1976 [8 March 1976] 43761/76 Heading F2V A valve comprises a pivotable shutter moved to a closed position by means responsive to the liquid level in a container to be filled through the valve, the shutter comprising two discs 1, 2 whose facing surfaces are formed with seats (25), Fig. 3 (not shown), 27 in which is received a sealing ring 21, the disc 2 which in use is disposed nearest the inlet side of the valve having at least one orifice 28 therethrough opening in the vicinity of the sealing ring 21. Thus when the valve is closed liquid entering the orifices 28 can exert a radial force on the sealing ring to urge it against the wall of flow passage 19. The discs 1, 2 are secured together and to an operating shaft 5 by a bolt 3, boltreceiving hole (9) in the shaft being offset from the axis (11) of the shaft, holes 12 in the discs being offset from a diameter (13), and the bearings for the shaft 5 being located so that the shaft axis is offset from the centre of the passage 19, Figs. 1, 4, 6-9 (not shown).
