Abstract

1515774 Fastener-strips STEPAN CHEMICAL CO 21 May 1976 [22 May 1975] 21121/76 Heading B8C [Also in Division B3] A plurality of metal fasteners (C-fasteners, nails, screws, spikes or staples) are secured in a line by an adhesive polymer cross-linked on the fasteners by exposure to radiation. As an example ultraviolet radiation is applied for 0À1 to 5 sees., to an adhesive comprising unsaturated resin, a monomer and a photo initiator. A dye may be included. The coating is 0À1 to 3 mls thick and may be applied to a part of, or the whole, of each fastener. The strips may be packed as sticks, coils or tubes. To resist subsequent removal of used fasteners they may be coated first with a withdrawal compound or serrated. The fasteners may be made from wires first adhered together.
